Revolutionary Physical Therapy Device Receives FDA Clearance
Biggest Investor, Sky Capital Enterprises, Says ASMI Device Could Help Millions Who Suffer From Back Pain Associated With Spinal Immobility
August 31, 2005, New York - Advanced Spinal Technologies, Inc. (AST), a 40%-owned affiliate of Sky Capital Enterprises, announced today that its revolutionary physical therapy device, the Advanced Spinal Mobilization Instrument (ASMI) has received FDA marketing and treatment clearance some two months ahead of schedule.
The patented ASMI device, comprised of a control console and practitioner held handset roughly the size of a computer mouse, is the central component of a novel, non-invasive therapeutic procedure. The device is designed for use by physical therapists to help restore spinal flexibility and mobility to patients suffering from back pain associated with spinal immobility.
Treatment with the ASMI is already available in physical therapy and other medical locations in Florida and will soon be available in New York. In addition, the ASMI is also being studied in clinical trials in several locations in the United States in patients with chronic back pain.
The Advanced Spinal Mobilization Instrument was invented by British engineer Robert Taylor and was recently introduced in the U.K., where it received glowing reviews in the London press. Ben Hunt, a journalist for the Financial Times, wrote of his personal experience with back pain and the ASMI device: "Now if 15 years of pain teaches you anything it is a healthy dose of skepticism about new treatments." After treatment with the device, he wrote, "I feel 100% better and my scepticism has disappeared..."
Dr. Jeffrey R. Perelman, President of AST, Inc., said, "Following the successful use of the Advanced Spinal Mobilization Instrument in the United Kingdom, we're thrilled to receive FDA clearance to market our revolutionary new technology and begin treatment of patients in the United States." "The Advanced Spinal Mobilization Instrument truly empowers the physical therapist to be able to deliver safe and effective therapy to their patients suffering from back pain associated with spinal immobility," Perelman said.
Mr. Ross Mandell, Chairman of Sky Capital Enterprises, Inc., said, "I would like to compliment Dr. Perelman and his team for receiving FDA clearance so expeditiously. Millions of Americans see their physician or physical therapist every year for back pain. I was one of them. And I can tell you: this device will change people's lives."
